Last Friday was the first Print Competition of the 2023-2024 season for Reading Camera Club. It was an open competition, so pictures on any theme could be entered. Members submit up to 3 prints for consideration by a judge from another local club. Judging for this competition was by Gladys Perrier LRPS visiting us from Bracknell, who began by looking through all the submitted prints, which were then placed on the viewing stand at the front of the Hall, and assessed by her individually giving comments which were perceptive and always encouraging. Each print was scored out of 20.
The overall standard was very high and three prints achieved the top score, all coincidentally in black and white. Prints are also shown on Zoom for the benefit of members and guests unable to get to the Hall on that evening. Competition evenings are always popular at the club and it’s a great way to get feedback on your own pictures from an experienced photographer and also to see what other club members are producing.
Please take into consideration that these images are just illustration of the prints and the quality might not be up to the quality of the actual print.
Members can find the scores in photoentry.
Next Friday’s we have a presentation by Darran Roper from Reading who will give his presentation – A Way of Photography. More information and lots of images can be found on his website.
